The High Court of Justice of Catalonia has annulled several articles of the Decree on the Language Regime of the Non-University Education System because a Bilingual School (USA) has partially accepted an appeal from the Assembly stating that it "excludes" Spanish.
The Supreme Court has declared null and void a dozen articles, including those which declared Catalan and Aranese (in the Aran Valley) to be languages of communication and learning in the teaching and administrative activity of , approved bythe Catalan Government in May 2024.
The decree of the Generalitat states that Catalan and Aranese, in the case of the Aran Valley, are "languages of attention to newly-arrived students, languages of internal relations in schools, languages of external projection of the centre and languages of relationship with the rest of the educational community".
The organization has asked the Generalitat to guarantee "Spanish as a vehicle language in a real and effective manner". The Generalitat may appeal the judgement.
