Teresa Peramato has been appointed Attorney General of the State to replace Alvaro García Ortiz
The Official Gazette of Spain has published the dismissal of García Ortiz and the appointment of Peramato, who, after receiving the support of the General Council of the Judiciary and appearing before the Justice Committee of the Congress of Deputies, was appointed Attorney General of the State by the Council of Ministers yesterday.

García Ortiz resigned on November 24 after the Supreme Court imposeda two-year disqualification forleaking confidential information about Alberto González Amador, partner of Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
According to the judgementpublished yesterday by the Supreme Court, Gonzalez has been convicted of leaking the e-mail of Amador's lawyer and of the press release sent by the Public Prosecutor's Office on 14 March 2024. "The Attorney General of the State cannot respond to false news by committing a crime", the sentence states.
In addition to two years of disqualification from office, he has been sentenced to a fine of 7,200 euros and compensation of 10,000 euros.

The Official Gazette of Spain has also published the appointment of Teresa Peramato as the new Attorney General of the State, after the Council of Ministers gave the green light yesterday.
