The businessman Julio Martínez Martínez points the finger at his partner, the former President of the Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in the case investigating the rescue of the airline Plus Ultra. He points out that the former socialist leader was the intermediary of the 53 million euro bailout granted by the government to Plus Ultra.
He has stated this after testifying as an accused in the Plus Ultra case before Judge José Luis Calama of the National High Court investigating the case, according to legal sources.
The businessman has also insisted that the former socialist leader had previously informed him that the government was going to lend to the airline.
Four hours of statement.
In his statement, which lasted nearly four hours, Martinez, owner ofthe company Analisis Recurrante, states that Zapatero ordered the split of the payment of 1% of the ransom until 2026. To this end, he explained that invoices were sent to Plus Ultra from the company itself and other companies under suspicion, according to these sources.
Martinez joined the letter submitted on Monday to the judge by the president of Plus Ultra, Julio Martínez Sola, in which he explained that the payment of 1% of the ransom was split, which, according to the airline's manager, amounted to €249,000 to Analisis Correspondante, €98,617 to Voli Analytica, and another €110,799 to Domotic Europe.
Martinez, however, has separated Zapatero from his connection to the attempt to form an offshore company in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and has explained that he met Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodríguez through former President Zapatero, although he later formed his own network ofcontacts, and that the former Venezuelan vice president became one of his main contacts.
The Daughters' Company
Martinez has also confirmed that he hired the company What The Fav, owned by Zapatero's daughters, which did real layout work as part of a marketing strategy to attract potential customers and continued to make payments to them even after the contract ended.
According to the investigation, What The Fav was one of the areas of redistribution of the financial flows of the alleged network, and in this regard, investigators say that Martinez's Commercial Analytics company paid him €239,755, while other companies also made payments to him in exchange for work that was allegedly not actually done.
