Fire extinguishment services continue to work for the complete extinction of the fire, which in recent days has involved firefighters, forest brigades and five helicopters.

The fire has already affected 1,700 hectares and some 550 firefighters are working on extinction work, while some 650 people are still evacuated.

The firefighters are fighting the flames in Porto Germeno, about 60 kilometers northwest of the capital. Haizea is the biggest enemy right now, as violent streaks have fueled the flames and the situation is critical across the country.

Half of the high-speed trains will operate from Saturday, while from Sunday the service will return to full normality.

The stabilisation of the Gironda fire will allow the extension of the A63 motorway between the Basque Country and Bordeaux. However, high-speed train traffic from the SNCF railway company between Hendaia and Bordeaux is still suspended.

Despite positive developments during the night, the heat is hampering the extinction efforts, especially in Zamora, where the fires in Madrid, Ávila and Castellón are still active, although they are already perimeter.

Night extinguishment work has made it possible to improve the state of the fires in the Community of Madrid, Ávila and Vall d'Uixo, before the start of a new heat wave, scheduled from today.
