U.S. President Donald Trump has announced an international high-tension economic measure that will impose a 25% tax on all countries that have trade relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, while increasing protests and repression in Iran.

There has been violent repression in Iran over the past two weeks against people protesting, and according to the NGO Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO), at least 648 people have died.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday that the channel of communication with the US "is open." "Messages are exchanged when necessary," he stressed, adding that Iran "has always maintained the principle of diplomacy and negotiation."

The US president has claimed that Tehran has crossed the "red line" following the deaths of hundreds of people during the protests and has not ruled out an immediate decision, while Iran has contacted to negotiate.
