The fire in the south of France "no longer progresses," but is not yet under control
The fire that broke out on Tuesday in the Corbieres Massif is the largest in the French state since 1949, with more than 16,000 hectares burned. The prefect of the department of Aude, Christian Pouget, has warned that it remains to be seen how many of these hectares are agricultural land.
