Entertainment technicians ask artists for "empathy" for the strike called during the festivities in the Basque capitals

Entertainment and event technicians have asked for "empathy" from artists with performances scheduled during the strike days called in August. The stoppages promoted by the unions ESK, LAB, UGT, CCOO, ELA and CNT will take place on 5, 14 and 26 August, coinciding with the festivities of Vitoria-Gasteiz, San Sebastián and Bilbao.

In a media appearance, representatives of the strike committee explained that there will be no minimum service because culture is not considered a fundamental service and recalled that the strike on 15 May was followed by 80% and insisted that they want to reach a "minimum" agreement that guarantees decent working conditions.

The summoners have complained that the sector is "totally deregulated" and have said that temporary work, very long working hours, no respect for legally established breaks, no benefit for working holidays or night hours and difficulties in reconciling work and personal life are common.

As an example of this, they explain that companies are currently communicating shifts five days in advance, requiring that the work schedule be known six weeks apart and that the exact schedule for each day be at least two weeks in advance.

The first day of unemployment will affect Vitoria-Gasteiz's White Virgin festivities on Wednesday, and unions have criticized the "million-dollar budget" holidays as being linked to job insecurity.

They also cite the contracting companies for the assemblies of the Fueros, Matxete and Plaza de la Provincia, as well as the City of Vitoria, which they reproach for not supervising the working conditions in which these works are carried out.

The performances scheduled for that day include the concerts of Leire Martinez in the Plaza de los Fueros, La Txamak in the Machete Square and Mariachi Imperial de Guanajuato in the Plaza de la Provincia.

In addition, the txosnas have announced that in solidarity with the strikers , they will cancel the musical performances scheduled for that day.

The trade unions have warned that once the strikes planned at the festivities in the three Basque capitals are over, they will allow employers to resume negotiations.
