Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has promised on Wednesday to "shorten" the preparatory period before troops invade Gaza.
In a brief text, it could respond to a manoeuvre to exert pressure on both Hamas and the Palestinians forced to move, and has not specified a possible date.
The Israeli Army has also declined to comment on this, adding, however, that "preliminary operations" have begun in some neighbourhoods of the Gaza capital today.
Israeli Army spokesman Effie Defrin said in an online appearance today that "the army already controls access to Gaza City" and that forces are concentrated in the suburb of Zeitun and Jabalia (north of Gaza City).
According to Gazatian sources, attacks and bombings have intensified at these two points, as well as house demolitions, and the army has called 60,000 reservists, according to a Defense statement.
Since October 2023, more than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel during its 22 months of offensive, according to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, although this figure may be much higher.
