LAB denounces that the Basque Government has not put in place the necessary means to implement the agreement signed on 9 May , which provided for job improvements and reinforcement for public education, which has led to the call for paros in public schools in the ACV today.
The union believes that, although the agreement can be implemented until 2028, some key measures must be put in place in the next school year, according to the union, such as reducing school hours, the rejuvenation plan, making summer payments to substitute teachers or lowering interinity below 5%, which means creating hundreds of new jobs that are not being properly planned.
LAB criticizes that, far from making progress in implementing the pact, the Department has created uncertainty with sudden decisions and lack of communication. They cite as an example the management of the HEDATZE programme, which has been established to help students in difficulty and which, according to the union, has new conditions that do not conform to the spirit of the agreement.
The Minister of Education of the Basque Government, Begoña Pedrosa, has defended the need to be "rigorous" in establishing the new functions. She has stressed that there are changes that require the proper training of teachers, a requirement that must be met in order to guarantee the quality of the system.
Today's protest bearstheslogan "Comply with the teachers' agreement! Provide schools with resources for 2025-26! Strengthen public education!" LAB calls on the other signatory unions to join the mobilization and warns that, if the situation does not change, they will continue to combine trade union action with judicial action to ensure the full implementation of the agreement.
