It has been published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country(BOPV) that Vitoria-Gasteiz has been declared a tense residential market area, but this classification will not officially enter into force until its publication in the Official Gazette of the State, which is expected by the end of October.
In particular, the BOPV today publishes an order from the Housing and Urban Agenda Counsellor, Denis Itxaso, declaring the entire urban area and the rural area of Abetxuko, Aretxabaleta, Armentia, Betoño, Ali and Gardelegito be a tense area by the small entity .
This measure, which affects the area in which 256,000 people live (97.9% of the population of Vitoria-Gasteiz), 'will make it possible to control rental prices and implement public policies to build more than 3,000 sheltered housing units in 3 years', the City Council and the Basque Government have reported in a press release.
