Trade unions call for three hours of unemployment and demonstrations in the Basque capitals to denounce the genocide in Gaza
The unions LAB, CCOO, UGT, ESK, STEILAS, CGT/LKN, ETXALDE and HIRU have announced the unemployment that will take place on October 15.
On 15 October, the Basque trade unions called for a three-hour strike to denounce the Israeli genocide in Gaza and demand the cessation of relations with Israel, as well as demonstrations in the Basque capitals.
The stops will be from 11:00 to 14:00, but the union representation of each company may be adapted to shifts and types of working hours.
LAB, CCOO, UGT, ESK, STEILAS, CGT/LKN, ETXALDE and HIRU have announced the mobilizations together at a press conference this Wednesday.
Finally, ELA has called the call on the same day, although it initially proposed "to make stops on other dates, regardless of Spanish trade unionism".
In a media appearance, LAB's General Coordinator, Garbiñe Aranburu, has said that the genocide suffered by the Gaza population requires "as broad a response as possible" and has advanced that they will propose to take to the streets with placards without acronyms so that "everyone here feels comfortable."
The demonstrations will take place at 12.30 p.m. and will depart from the Sacred Heart (Bilbao), the Boulevard (San Sebastián), the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca (Vitoria-Gasteiz) and the Golem (Pamplona).
In the note read by the trade unions, they call on employers and local and international organisations to cease 'all trade relations' with Israeland also call for the withdrawal of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel.
They have also called for a "comprehensive" solution to "end the occupation and colonization of Palestine and guarantee the right of citizens to live in freedom".
