Ministry of Transport approves expansion of Bilbao airport
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has approved the new Bilbao Airport Director Plan, which includes the expansionof the aircraft parking platform and public parking area , as well as the reorganisation of the cargo area
The Spanish Government has reported that the new plan has been approved by a ministerial order and will soon be published in the Official Gazette of the State (BOE) to adapt Bilbao airport to future traffic demand.
Among the main actions it envisages is the expansion of the aircraft parking platform with six more posts and the expansion of the ice melting platform so that it can have two simultaneous use posts.
The Master Plan also provides for actions in the terminal building andthe creation of new parking spaces, as well as the reorganisation and expansion of surface parking.
Provision is also made for the transfer of cargo area from the south to the north of the airport and the reorganisation of the south with new general aviation facilities.
With the planned actions, the airport service area will be modified, increasing by about 2 hectares and discharging 3.8 hectares, the Ministry said.
