The Legislative Initiative was registered on 21 August in the Basque Parliament by the trade unions ELA, LAB, ESK, Steilas, Hiru and Etxalde, which propose a reform of the Workers' Statute so that the Autonomous Communities can regulate the minimum wage, which is currently the responsibility of the State .
The Basque Government does not share the content of the ILP, although it is in favour of negotiating the wage agreement between employers and trade unions, and this Tuesday the Governing Council voted against it. Therefore, since the initiative will be voted on at the next plenary session of Parliament, it is likely to be rejected, with the votes of the majority of both parties, and will not continue its proceedings in the House.
The same will happen with the legislative initiative promoted by pensioners to equalise minimum pensions with the minimum wage, which was also suspended after the Basque Government voted against and PNV and PSE voted against its parliamentary procedure.
