Ayesa's future residence will be in Zamudio or San Sebastian
The consortium formed by the Basque Government, the BBK Foundation and the Indar fund, created by Kutxabank, has won the offer to buy the technology division of Aiesa and hopes that the agreement will be concluded by the end of the year.
The consortium formed by the Basque Government, the BBK Foundation and the Kutxabank Indar Fund has signed an exclusive agreement to acquire the technology division of Ayesa, formed by Ibermatica since 2022. The Basque offer has been imposed on other investors and has launched the final straight to close the sale before 31 December.
Industry Advisor Mikel Jauregi has reiterated that the aim of the operation is to keep the technology project rooted in the Basque Country and to strengthen its activity in the factories of Miramón, Zamudio and Vitoria-Gasteiz (2,000 jobs in the South).
Ayesa, with 13,000 employees worldwide, is among the state's top technology consultants and specializes in computing, digitization and cybersecurity, collaborates closely with the Basque Quantum strategy and participates in the development of the electronic recipe in the Basque Country.
Once the exclusivity of the negotiation has been ensured, the consortium has until the end of the year to close the purchase and, where appropriate, incorporate new investor partners. Among the decisions to be determined in the partnership agreement, the location of the headquarters is between Zamudio and San Sebastián.
Jáuregui recalled that the purchase takes on a"larger" structure than the part of Ibermatica integrated into the Ayesa IT and pointed out that discussions with current managers are progressing "gradually" towards the final photo of the agreement.
In financial terms, BBK and Indar Kutxabank have committed EUR 100 million, and the Basque Government will act as a "wildcard" if new investors enter.
