Car sales in the Basque Country rose 16.4% by 2025, but diesel sales fell 45%

In 2025 30.011 vehicles sold dir in the Basque Autonomous Community(CAV), i.e.car registrations have increased by 16.4% compared to the previous year, although sales of diesel cars have decreased by 45%.
Accordingto data released this Friday by employers in thesector Anfac, Ganvam and Faconauto , most registrations (23,573) correspond to electric, hybrid or hydrogen vehicles .
Between January and December, 5,559 petrol vehicles have also been registered in the Basque Country, 31.3% less than the previous year, and only 877 cars with diesel engines have been sold, which is 45.06% less.

In Spain as a whole, car and other vehicle registrations have increased by 12.9%, to 1,148,650 vehicles.
That being the case, for the second year in a row, the sale of new cars exceeds one million units since the pandemic, but the number is still far from the 1.26 million units sold in 2019.
