Today begins the vaccination of Navarre and Gipuzkoa cattle against nodular dermatosis

Vaccinationagainst nodular dermatosis will begin today in Hego Euskal Herria with the vaccination of cattle from Navarreand Gipuzkoa. By order of the Spanish Government, animals from cattle farms closest to the French state will first be vaccinated.  Ina has also been detected in the French Basque Country.

In Navarre, veterinarians will travel from north to south, so that cattle, bulls and calves from livestock farms in Baztan-Bidasoa, Pyrenees, Sakana or the Ultzama area will be the first to be vaccinated. In the foral community, approximately 60,000 cattle will be vaccinated, half of the livestock from the whole community.

Asfor Gipuzkoa, about 44,000 cattle will be vaccinated from today.  

The Ministry has for the time being excluded the livestock farms of Álava and Bizkaia from the vaccination plan  because they are further away from the territories where the spotlight has been. The Basque Government complains about this decision.

In the French state as a whole, there are currently about 115 hotspots in force, and 530,000 cattle have already been vaccinated, most of them in the southern departments.
