The Guipuzcoana company CAF has signed a new contract with the Serbianrailway company forthe construction of 30 new trains for the Belgrade suburban service and will be responsible for their comprehensive maintenance for two years.
This is the second railway contractCAF has reached in Serbia. In 2009, it won the project for the design and construction of 30 trams for the capital, which are currently serving the streets of Belgrade.
The Beasain company will build electric trains based on the Civity platform in this project that it has just achieved, each with three wagons and a capacity of 546 passengers (204 of them seated). In terms of interior design, there will be 6 multifunctional areas and space for 18 bicycles.
These units offer the advantages of light aluminium structure, which can reach 120 km/h, and also have the ability to accelerate and reduce speeds rapidly at frequent stops in urban transport systems.
The new CAF trains will serve the Belgrade network and the surrounding towns .
