They have partially lifted the confinement imposed on poultry farms

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Spanish Government has decided to lift the confinement imposed in November last year on poultry farms in view of the improvement in the evolution of avian influenza cases. No new cases have been detected in the last 15 days. 

However, according to the order issued today in the Official Gazette of the State, the measure will not be lifted everywhere. The World Animal Health Organizationreported on 10 February that the Spanish State was "out of danger of high levels of infection" of avian influenza, but recommended maintaining a number of preventive measures against the risks of migratory bird movements. 

"For the sector, breathe."

The Basque Government and the Member States consider the decision taken by the Spanish Government to be 'positive'. After several months of preventive restrictions, they believe that the  sector will 'breathe'. 

"Flexibility  comes afterimproving the epidemiological situation  and will allow some normality to be restored in the activity of many farms, "says the note disseminated by these organizations, which explain that until the situation recovers, epidemiological evolution will continue" attentive ". 

On the other hand, following the "repeated refusal of the Ministry" to extend vaccination to the whole of the Basque Country against DNC Dermatosis, the Government and the deputies have reported that they have decided to "activate new avenues" to deal with the situation.
