The Basque Governmenthas offered to mediate between the management of Tubos Reunidosand the works council to resolve the labour dispute, as the Deputy Minister of Labour, Elena Lopez Barredo, has conveyed to the trade union representatives at their meeting this morning in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Lopez Barredo says there needs to be "honest and transparent dialogue " to resolve the conflict and put a "solution" on the table.
The meeting was held at the request of the Works Council, at which the workers sent a clear message to the representatives of the Government: "The closure of the steelworks and the outsourcing of logistics" are red lines that they will not accept either.
