Cebek sees "serious error and unfair competition" in the government's announcement to increase civil servants' salaries by 4.5%
In this regard, the Basque Government has statedthat it respects the opinion of Cebek, but believes that "the most appropriate thing" is to comply with the basic regulations on wage increases established in the Spanish State.
Press conference to report on Cebek's forecasts for the end of the year.
According toCebek's president, Guillermo Buces , it isa"serious mistake" and "unfair competition" that theBasque Government has announced next year that it wants to raise the salary of Basque civil servants by 4.5%.
In a message on LinkedIn, the highest representative of the Biscay employers reflected on the announcement made last Tuesday by the autonomous executive, which envisagesa4.5% wage increase for public employees by 2027, included in the new budgets of the Basque Autonomous Community, to which would be added "a possible additional revision", depending on the inflation of the moment.
At the press conference following the Basque Governing Council, the Finance and FinanceAdviser, Noël d'Anjou , explained that there is a basic regulation affecting the salary increase for civil servants and that 4.5% is provided for.
Buces has described it as a "serious mistake"and"pure unfair competition"to propose a 4.5% wage increase in the public sector and has stressed that companies cannot bear all the cost increasesbecause their s margins are already "significantly limited."
Cebek's president added that if companies could pass on staff costs to other economic actors - because public salaries are paid by the public - this issue "would be of a different nature, but not".
"We're playing with the viability of a lot of companies, and we don't seem to realize the damage these measures cause, or the consequences, "he said.
Therefore, the administration proposes to take into account the reality that Basque companies "live and suffer" before making such decisions. "The administration is the largest company in the Basque Country, and I believe it should not go on its own, nor in the election campaign," he stressed.
The Government respects the opinion
In this context, the Finance and Finance Adviser has pointed out that there may be differences of opinion in this area and of course he respects that of the President of Cebek, although he has recalled that the salaries of the public sector are laid down in a basic regulation in which the Spanish Government adopts agreements with the trade unions.
He has thus pointed out that, from the pointofview of the Basque Government, "the wisest and most appropriate thing to do is to comply with the Rules of Procedure Then, having no competence in this matter, his historic commitment has beentoinclude the wage increase agreed in Madrid in the budgets. "
