This is how the San Sebastian Classic will affect traffic in the capital this Saturday

This Saturday is celebrated theClassical San Sebastian , a remarkable international cycling race that will cross much of Gipuzkoa, starting and ending on the Boulevard donostiarra, so special measures will be put in place that will affect traffic throughout the day and divert vehicles in different areas of the city and its surroundings.
The security apparatusshall be coordinated by the Basque Government with the local police of the municipalities where the test is carried out and with the Ertzaintza (including the Traffic, Mobile Brigade and Surveillance and Rescue Units).
The departure will be at 11:20 and the finish line will be around 16:29hours , but the schedules may vary depending on the development of the race. The route will affect different towns of Gipuzkoa and cyclists will cross the capital several times, especially inthe centre, Gros, Antigua and Igeldo.
In this context, therace will have a major impact on traffic, so that from 10:00 to 11:30 the Paseo de Colón, Avenida de la Libertad and Boulevard will be closed, and the neutralized exit routes will have their second partial closure from 11:00. In addition, the Boulevard will be closed from 9:00 on Friday to 20:00 on Saturday , between the streets of Legazpi and Hernani .
On Saturday afternoon, from 14:00 to 17:30, the roads through which the final section of the cycling test runswill becompletely closed, affecting several neighborhoods: Altza, Bidebieta, Ategorrieta, Gros, Centro, Igeldo and Antigua. The inhabitants of the port or sector 1.1 will have an alternative itinerary, subject to the development of the event.
The Paseo Nuevo will have parking restrictions from 07:30 on Friday to 20:00 on Saturday and will be closed until 22 August due to the Big Week market area. In Igeldo, access will be completely restricted from 15:00 to 17:30 on Saturday and only residents, camping customers or hotel establishments will be allowed to pass in the morning (11:00 to 15:00).

Effects on other areas of Gipuzkoa
The race will affect several areas of the main road network in Gipuzkoa, with temporary traffic cuts, including the GI-20 (exit 10, Añorga) and the A-15 (roundabout of Mandazubi), between 11:00 and 11:45 and again between 13:55 and 14:50.
Incidentsare also expected at various points in the AP-8, especially at thedepartures from Zarautz, Zumaia and Oiartzun, from 12:10 to 16:25. The N-I will be restricted from 11:45 to 12:00 and later from 13:50 to 14:35.
On the GI-636 road, the cuts will last longer and divert at several key points. From 14:30, the PK 0.00 in the Irunsense will be completely closed, and at the PK 2,900 access to Donostiaand Irunwill also be closed from 14:30 to 16:25. At the height of Lintzirin (PK 5), withholding is expected from 15:35 to 16:25.
Finally, on the N-634 , at the top of Orio(PK 15,200), traffic will be completely cut between approximately 12:10 and 12:55. For all these reasons, drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and to be attentive to the signals and instructions of the agents in order to cause as little damage as possible during the race.
