Eight wounded and four missing as part of a building under construction in the Marid Opera House collapsed
A building on Hileras Street collapsed around 13:00. Three of the seven working workers were injured and four others are missing.
Eight people have been injured, four of them mild, as part of a six-storey building that was under construction this Monday at around 1300 hours in the Opera area of central Madrid, 6 Hileras Street.
Police sources have indicated that seven workers were inside the refurbished building for a hotel, but four have not yet been located. The other three have been injured. Samur Civil Protection has reported that one of them has been taken to hospital with a broken leg and two other minor bruises.
Currently, a Samur-Civil Protection Unit and the Madrid Fire Department are working to secure the area and search for missing persons (at least four), with the support of the Air Support Section and the Canine Police Section.
Emergency Services have reported the partial collapse of forges from a building on Hileras Street, which forced residents of the area to vacate until the area was secured. In statements to the agencies, they have said they heard a strong tremor around 1300 hours.
