The Artxanda tunnel between Ugasko and the Txorierri has been closed since midnight and will remain closed for at least the next six months while the infrastructure is being renovated.
During this time, the connection between Bilbao and the Txorierri will be guaranteed through the first tunnel, as well as the usual access to Enekuri and Egilleta.
The aim of the work will be to strengthen the security, efficiency and sustainability of the infrastructure, with an estimated investment of almost EUR 13 million.
Around 30,000 vehicles travel every day through the tunnels of Artxanda, a strategic link connecting Bilbao to the Txorierri region, Bilbao Airport and the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park.
