Zaldibar Argitu calls for the end of the investigation phase on the 6th anniversary of the disaster
Reminiscent of the workers Alberto Sololuze and Joaquin Beltrán, the citizens' platform has held an event like every year in the Eitzaga neighbourhood, where they have explained that they are "annoyed" because the court has been investigating environmental crimes for 72 months. "Let everything be clarified," they have claimed. They have also denounced that part of the landfill is "unprotected" and that its waste is "falling directly into the river."
For the sixth year, workers Alberto Sololuzeand Joaquin Beltrán, who denounced the Zaldibar disaster and died under thousands of tons of rubble, have been excited today in the town of Biscay, called by the citizen platform Zaldibar Argitu. The court investigating environmental crimes in the disaster has been asked to finish the investigation phase once and for all.
On the 6th anniversary of the disaster, dozens of people have gathered in the Eitzaga district of Zaldibar, where the dump was once located. Members of the citizens' platform, relatives of the Sololuze and Beltran workers and a large number of citizens have participated in the event, and after performances by bertsolaris and musicians, a floral offering has been made in memory of the two workers.
One of the members of the Zaldibar Argitu platform has denounced the "humiliation, abuse and contempt" suffered by the authorities over the years, adding that it is "very painful" to demand justice because they believe that "all injustice should be protected by the authorities".
They have also reported that although "everything seems to be in order" and protected with plastic, part of the landfill, which overlooks Etxebarri, is "unprotected" and "the garbage goes straight tothe river ", so they have stressed that pollution measuring devices are" a pretence: the water in the stream is less clean. "
Another member of the citizens' platform has referred to the proceedings of the court investigating environmental crimes and has denounced that the words made a year ago, last year, "have not changed anything to clarify the disaster." He has denounced that the investigation phase has been extended for the umpteenthtime . "How long does it take for the investigation to be completed and the conclusions to be presented? Let everything be clarified. Why the disaster occurred and who was responsible."
