Hundreds of people, small citizens and institutional representatives, have gathered this afternoon in front of the Egüés Valley Town Hallto condemn yesterday's macho murder in Sarriguren .
A 30-year-old man killed his 28-year-old partner with a knife. In the attack, the man seriously injured another woman, her mother and the victim's mother-in-law.
The rally has been convened by the Board of Speakers of the Egüés Valley City Council, after meeting as a matter of urgency in the morning. All the political groups that make up the Board of Spokespersons have adopted an institutional declaration condemning the murder "outright" and expressing their "indignation".
This afternoon's meeting was preceded by another in the morning in Pamplona, convened by the feminist group Itaia and under the slogan "Resist all male violence!" On Monday, however, the feminist movement of the Egüés Valley called a rally inthe Plaza de los Fueros de Sarriguren.
The crime took place at about 7.30 p.m. yesterday in the house that the couple shared on Reyno de Navarra Street in Sarriguren, where the marriage was being separated, and there was no complaint against the man, so the victim was not involved in the VioGen system.
The59-year-old woman was taken to the Navarra University Hospital Complex in a serious condition, although she is said to be evolving well and her life is not at risk. One of the couple's four minor children was in the house at the time of the crime.
The alleged murderer fled the house, but was arrested shortly thereafter by the Egüés Valley Local Police, which is investigating the incident, and the judge has declared the case secret.
