The man who last Friday threatened police officers in Barakaldo (Bizkaia) with a knife and was shot in the leg by a police officer has been released after being taken into custody on Saturday, municipal sources have confirmed.
As reported by the Department of Security of the Basque Government in a note, the events took place at 7.40 p.m. on Friday. Barakaldo Municipal Police went to a commercial establishmentinthe Karmen district after learning that a robbery was being committed with violence.
When they arrived outside the establishment, the officers found a man threatening them with a knife. The officers tried to stop the man andused a taser gun , but he continued to show an aggressive attitude.
The wounded man was treated at the scene by the health services and then taken to Cruces Hospital, but he is stable and out of danger. He is charged with a crime of robbery with violence and an attack on officers.
After being taken into custody late on Saturday, he has been released, as confirmed by municipal sources.
