Santurtzi brings together thousands of people at the Basque Public School party
The streets and squares of Santurtzi have been filled from the first hour with events, family shows, workshops and other activities aimed at strengthening the open and community character of the Basque Public School.
Santurtzihas gathered thousands of people today, Sunday, at the 33rd edition of the Festival of the Basque PublicSchool. Under the slogan "Ehunetan", from the first hour of the morning the town of Biscay has become a meeting point of the Basque educational community in favour of an inclusive, Euskaldun and innovative public school, so today is not only a day of great celebration and participation, but also a day of vindication to give the public school the value it deserves.
Throughout the day there will be many opportunities to have funin different areas of the municipality. From the first hour the streets and squares have been filled with events, family shows, workshops and other activities, in order to enhance the open and community character of the Basque Public School.
In her speech, the Minister of Education of the Basque Government, Begoña Pedrosa, stressed that the public schoolrepresents a network of thousands of people. "Every student, family, teacher and school makes its contribution. The strength of the public school arises precisely from this diversity and its ability to become one of its great strengths, "she said.
Susana Aribayos , President of EHIGE, Itziar Carrocera , Mayor of Santurtzi, and Elixabete Etxanobe , General Deputy of Bizkaia, participated in the opening event together with representatives of the educational community and Basque institutions.

One of the main spaces, Las Viñas School, will host musical and theatrical proposals for all audiences. The CentralPark will also host a wide range of games, workshops, outreach spaces and environmental awareness proposals, among others.
Gernika Parkwill bring together gastronomy and live music, while the portof Santurtzi will host the day's multitudinary shows, with rural sports exhibitions and concerts at this rendezvous point.
The celebration has also spread throughout the municipality thanks to the travelling animation A and the kalejira organized by the Euskal Eskola Publikoa Harro platform, accompanied by the Reperkusion Feminista batukada. In this edition, the festival of the Basque Public School has once again claimed the place of public education as the centerpiece of the Basque education system.
