The fire at Les Gavarres in Girona has already been stabilized

Firefighters have declared stabilized the fire that broke out on Friday in the town of La Bisbal d 'Empordà, in Girona, about 2,300 hectares , although work continues on the right side, according to the Conseller of Interior and Public Security, Núria Parlon.

The conseller, accompanied by Chief Fire Inspector David Borrell, appeared on Saturday night to update the latest fire data and warned that until the middle of next week there will be a heat wave in Catalonia with southern wind and high temperatures, so he advanced that the fire will not be extinguished until a few days from now.

Parlon also indicated that they will see in the next few hours whether the restrainingorders  affecting seven municipalities can be "relaxed".

If so, the inhabitants of these villages will receive an Es-Alert message on their mobile phones, and the Les Gavarres massif will be closed until July 10.

The counselor has hoped that the development of the extinction work will be "satisfactory" and that "the fire department will achieve the targets set", although he has acknowledged that the daysremain  for the final extinction of the fire.

As for the damaged buildings, there are seven, four of them completely burnt, but the final inventory will be made when the extinction work is completed.

A totalof 475 firefighters remain on site, who, together with the Spanish Army, are trying to control and extinguish the fire.

On the other hand, David Borrell stressed that although the fire has stabilized, this does not mean it is under control, but "it does not grow, but its perimeter is very irregular, very difficult, and it has not been possible tofinish, we are not yet in a position to say that everything is under control. "
