Judge sentenced Nelson David Moreno to 24 years in prison for the murder of a 73-year-old man in Bilbao
The judge has sentenced him to 22 years for aggravated murder and two more years for computer fraud, his fourth conviction, which investigators believe relates to the deaths of seven gay men killed in autumn 2021.

Last May, a popular jury found Moreno guilty of the 73-year-old man's murder, and the judge has now determined the sentence against him.
They met through an app.
The events took place on October 5 , 2021, when the victim and Nelson David Moreno met through a same-sex recognition app. The man's home in Bilbao, wherethe defendant narrowed his neck from the back and strangled him.
The popular jury found that Moreno had acted alevosily and pleaded guilty to murder and continued computer fraud for extracting 3,000 euros from his bank account after the man's death.
The Gehitu Association, as a popular accusation, called for the aggravation of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, but the popular jury rejected this request.
Fourth conviction
The 24-year sentence is Nelson David Moreno's fourth conviction, and the cases against him are not yet over.
In his first trial, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to kill a man he met through a gay relationship app in December 2021.
In the second trial, he was sentenced to two years and three months for economic crimes in connection with another case, which could also be prosecuted as murder.
Finally, in another trial, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of a 43-year-old music teacher, also in October 2021, in which case he also used the strangulation technique to subdue and then steal from the victim.
Connection to seven other deaths
Investigations into the remaining cases in which Moreno is being prosecuted remain open. During the trial of one of them, an ertzaina who participated in the investigation explained that the Ertzaintza believed that Moreno might be behind seven deaths of gay men.
The victims were found in their homes in similar circumstances, according to investigators, there are similarities between the cases: the defendant would have contacted the victim through contact applications and arranged an appointment beforehand.
In addition, trials are scheduled for two more homicides in the autumn, so legal proceedings against Moreno will continue.
