Euskadi launches Hezigiro thermal comfort plan in schools

Education is already piloting four schools in Bizkaia: the CEIP Bagatza in Barakaldo, the IES Luis Briñas-Santutxu in Bilbao, the IPI Pagasarribide in Bilbao and the CEIP Indautxu in Bilbao.
The work has made it possible to analyse the characteristics of each raikin and its environment, diagnose its vulnerability to high temperatures, and define the most appropriate intervention measures in each case.
As a first action, awningswill be installed in the following schools during these months: CEIP Luis Briñas-Santutxu, Pagasarribide and Legarda and Agag.
Hezigiro will be extended tothe entire public network of Children's, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, progressively developing and prioritizing activities according to the needs of each school.
The planned activities include improved ventilation, the creation of new shadow spaces, the installation of solar protection elements, the renaturalization of patios, energy rehabilitation activities, the creation of school climate shelters and, where technical conditions so warrant, the introduction of specific air conditioning solutions.
