Iran and the US intensify their attacks
Attacks by US forces on Iran have received a response from the Revolutionary Guard, which has attacked US bases in several countries in the Middle East.
Tension in the Middle East has escalated on Monday with attacks and counter-attacks between the US and Iran. Washington had announced a new wave of bombing of dozens of Iranian military targets, to which Tehran has responded with missiles and drones launched by the US Army against the bases it operates in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has claimed to have hit "dozens of targets" with specific ammunition to reduce Iran's ability to control maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Among the resources attacked, air defense systems have been hit for the first time, and also coastal radar, missile and drone resources and light boats.
Hours later, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced a response against the bases of the US Army. Tehran has confirmed that it has carried out attacksin Ordania, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman , hitting fuel tanks, defence systems and command centres.
The Jordanian Army has reported that four missiles from Iran have been intercepted and destroyed, while Bahrain has activated its alarm sirens and urged the population to seek refuge.
According to the Revolutionary Guard, this is the first phase of its response to U.S. bombings, which has also confirmed that theStrait of Hormuz is part of Iranian territory and announced further attacks if Washington maintains its operations and military presence there.
Faced with this, the US insists that its aim is to prevent Iran from attacking ships crossing the strait and rejectsthe Persian country's control of the strait.
