U.S. President Donald Trump was taken away in a catering truck before leaving Turkey after participating in the NATO summit in July. On his return trip to the United States, a second plane was also used as a decoy in the face of Iran's threat.
According to senior White House officials quoted by TheNew York Times and The Washington Post , the US authorities planned a secret strategy to discreetly remove Trump from Turkey.
The plan was designed after the intelligence services detected a credible threat to the president's plane, the Air Force One , so another presidential plane also left Turkey to act as a decoy and make it difficult for potential attackers to identify the aircraft in which Trump was travelling.
As part of the operation, Trump was transported in a service vehicle from where he was to the military plane waiting to return to the United States.
"Always under threat."
This manoeuvre was part of a larger plan to conceal the movements of the envoy, and to reduce the danger of being discovered along the route.
At that point, Trump denied that the change of plane was due to a threat from Iran and confirmed that the new Air Force One would fly to the UK so that the US military could recognize it.
When asked if there was a credible threat to the aircraft, he replied, "I have a threat all the time, I'm number one on their list."
