Orange alert extended until Tuesday at 38 degrees Celsius inside
Extreme temperatures will keep much of the territory under warning; temperatures will drop slightly tomorrow, but only in some northern areas.
The Basque Government has updated the warning for adverse weather events and has confirmed that the orange alert for extreme high temperatures will also be maintained on Tuesday in several areas of the Basque Country as part of the heat wave that continues to intensify.
According to the bulletin of the Directorate of Emergency and Meteorological Care, on Monday the orange alert will affect the interior of the Cantabrian, the transition zone and the Ebro axis, where highs of up to 38 degrees are expected, while on the coast the yellow warning will be activated with temperatures around 33 degrees.
On Tuesday, the heat will be extreme in the south and centre of the territory, as the orange alert will continue in the transition zone and the Ebro axis, and values will again be around 37 – 38 degrees. In the inner Cantabrian, the yellow warning will be activated, with highs of around 33 degrees, and the coast will be around 26 degrees.
By Wednesday, temperatures will drop slightly in the north half, but the heat will remain intense in the south-east, where they could exceed 35 degrees Celsius.
They have confirmed that the heat wave will be persistent, although it will have a different impact between the north and south of South Euskal Herria and withthe most extreme records concentrated on the Ebro axis and the transition zone.
