The singer Manuel de la Calva (Barcelona, 1937), a member of the Duo Dinamico, died this Tuesday at the age of 88, according to his partner Ramon Arcusa on social media.
Manuel de la Calva met Ramón Arcusa at the Elizalde aviation company, where they both started working. As teenagers, they came together to imitate the idols of their time, and in 1958, they were publicly presented on the radio under the name The Dynamic Boys.
In the early 1960s, they also participated in four feature films as protagonists.
In 2014, the couple received the Latin Grammy of Musical Excellence for their career and other awards, such as the Gold Medal of Merit at Work (2010) or the SGAE Medal of Honor (2024).
Along with his career at the Dynamic Duo, Manuel de la Calva was also a composer, fixer or producer for other artists (such as Julio Iglesias, Camilo Sesto, Nino Bravo or Massiel) and registered more than 560 titles at the SGAE, a partner organization since October 1960.
