Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez and nine shows to launch the San Sebastian Musical Fortnight
From today until August 30, more than 60 concerts will be held in the Kursaal, Victoria Eugenia and Tabakalera, including the "Amazing Arriaga", a concert commemorating the bicentennial of the death of Arriaga, and the return of Natxo de Felipe to the stage with a performance in Arantzazu.
A great star of the international lyrical song, the Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez, and nine other concerts and shows, mostly free, today begin the87th Musical Fortnight of San Sebastian. For almost a month, until the 30th of August, the capital of Guipuzcoana will be flooded with symphonic music, recitals and avant-garde melodies.
Florez, accompanied by pianist Vincenzo Scalera, will perform again after two decades in San Sebastian. The tenor has become one of the greatest voices in the world. He will perform a program built on pieces by Verdi, Donizetti, Bellini, Rossini, Massenet, Gounod, Serrano, Lecuona, etc. He will perform at the Kursaal (20:00) with tickets exhausted.
In addition, at sunset, Kresala 's 20 dancers will discuss "human duality" in Zure Barruan: The Hydra Myth, an outdoor montage of "music, dance and poetry" in Zuloaga Square.

Under the direction of Juanjo Mena (the Vitorian has announced that this year's concerts will be his last), the Basque Orchestra will perform a selection of the best known works of the early Billian genius: The Happy Slaves— Obertura, Symphony re Major, Stabat Mater, O Salutaris Hostia and Obertura.

Tabakalera -Tabakalera will consolidate as the venue of the festival and become the center of contemporary offerings. Tabakalera Dantzan, along with the cycle dedicated to Contemporary Music and the premiere of Zomozorroak, the main show of the Children's Fortnight.
Finally, it should be noted that Natxo de Felipe has returned to the stage. Oskorri's final farewell 11 years later, Abandonados presents it in Arantzazu on August 20. De Felipe recovers some unpublished songs in Oskorri's time, once he has fulfilled the prophetic threat to his colleagues: "Someday, I will revive songs abandoned by my friends, to your shame."
