EHZ, engagement and dance for 30 years
The road that began in the Rose in 1996 is not over; far from it, the EHZ will face the 30th birthday of Euskal Herria Zuzenean under the slogan "First notes of the future" and, as always, "feminism, anti-capitalism, ecology, sexual freedom, social justice, internationalism, multiculturalism and the fight against all forms of exclusion".
The EHZ will be held one more year at the house that premiered in 2024, the Arberatze-Zilh, a town that has taken over from Arrosa, Idauze-Mendi, Heleta, Lekorne and Irisarri, localities through which they passed, among talks, shows and smaller groups, such as Public Enemy, Lluís Llach, Su Ta Gar, Alpha Blondy, Berri Txarrak, Goran Bregovic, Gojira, Fermin Muguruza, Sepura, Laure, Crystal, Busu, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Goi, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Jou, Goi, Jou, Jou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gogou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou, Gou,
Despite the big names, EHZ is not a business, but a vector of exchange and reflection organized by a non-profit association, a festival that the people organize for the people from their engagement with the people.
In addition to music, political reflection also has a place in the programming of the LER, and there are round tables and colloquiums, between chords and rhythms: "Beyond mere consumption, we aim to make festivals an actor, encouraging interaction and contributing through their participation," explains the organizing association.
Artificial Intelligence, child and youth transsexuality, far-right communication strategies, pesticides, American imperialism and the relationship between screens and the Basque Country will be some of the topics to be discussed in this 30th anniversary edition.
In addition, in addition to the music, as the EHZ looks at other forms of creative expression, those who buy both the three-day bonus (63 euros) and Friday, Saturday and Sunday tickets (25, 27 and 18 euros) will be able to watch other shows: Haira Aizpurua, Mira Artetxe, Ekhine Zapiain, Lora Lascano, Bastien Marianne and Maiana Agurre's musical verse, Leinu by Berdinki Zirkus, Maitane Sarralde's Aireak, Gilkaro, Marianne
As far as music is concerned, on Friday, l'Entoourloop, Xak, Ztah, Tekmao and Niko Etxart and Hapa Hapa, among others, will perform in the stages of Arberatze and Zilhekoa; on Saturday, Crow, Jonkass, Dena, Niña Coyote and Chico Tornado, Anestesia and Merina Gris 0a0y DAM, and on Sunday, to close the festival, Etzakitek, Belabide, Silabide, Silabide, and the others will be heard.
The first notes of the future have been promised, for this edition of 2026, we will see how this nice score continues. We will also know whether the attempt to seduce the Hunters at the concert of the Kneecap Belfast trio in Bilbao in early June (the banners reading "Kneecap-EHZ 2027") has worked.
