Irene Montero to lead left-wing forces in general election on Saturday
Irene Montero, number two of Podemos, will demonstrate this Saturday at a party event herwillingness to lead and lead the "widest possible" left-wing candidacy in the next general election and present the axes of her program, with housing as the top priority.
According to sources from Podemos, Montero will take advantage of Saturday's event in Madrid called Paz, casa, obra to advance the candidacy project he announced more than a year ago.
In addition, the current MEP of Podemos will present the main axes of his candidacy and will setthe following priorities: fair prices for housing, less work to live better, lower the cost of living, defend peace and fight the climate emergency.
The aim ofPodemos will be to form a "clearly left-wing" candidacy that is "as broad as possible." However, for the time being, it has not been specified which parties or politicians would join in the general elections to be held in 2027.
For the time being, Podemos has vetoed Movimiento Sumar. Yolanda Díaz is in the process of reorganizing this second movement of Vice-President of the Government with the IU, Mas Madrid and members of the Comuns. The purple formation has long pushed for the possibility of an electoral tandem between Irene Montero and the ERC spokesperson in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, who, on the other hand, has been willing to lead the left-wing parties even though he has not had the approval of his party.
