Ansola does not enter into controversy and insists that Bengoetxea is "the best candidate"
Bizkaia's MP, Elixabete Etxanobe, was "surprised" yesterday by the rejection of her candidacy by the Bizkai Buru Batzar (BBB). The next day, Ansola again defended her decision in statements to EITB.
Thepresident of the Bizkai Buru Batzar (BBB) of the PNV, Iñigo Ansola , didnot want to respond to criticism fromthe current General Member of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe , who was hurt yesterday by the BBB's nomination of Vice-President Ibone Bengoetxea as Bizkaia's candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The PNV of Bizkaia announced on Thursday to Etxanobe and the president of the PNV EBB, Aitor Esteban, the bet on Ibone Bengoetxea, who acknowledged that it was an "absolute surprise" to him and stressed that he did not know "the reasons for it" and even reported that Ansola had confirmed to him in March that he would be the next candidate.
The president of the BBB, who was in Markina-Xemein (Bizkaia) today and asked by EITB about Etxanobe's statements, did not enter the face-to-face. Ansola stressed that the competence to propose nominations lies with the BBB and that "we are facing a new political period and it was seen that the best candidate for MP is Ibone Bengoetxea".
"I won't say anything else from now on," he added.
Finally, he stressed that the PNV is a "very democratic party" that owes "respect" to the internal process.
In the same vein, the PNV spokeswoman attheCongress, Maribel Cowboy, has stated that "there is an internal process for electing candidates, and what I have to do is respect that process, and that's what I'm going to do."
