The work being carried out within the 'Civil War Missing Persons Search Programme' has made it possible to identify other remains found in the cemetery in Amorebieta (Bizkaia).
Coordinated by Gogora , on Monday theAranzadi Society launched the fifth exhumation campaign , which has allowed the discovery of theremains of 22 other people , but the work has not yet been completed, so more can appear.
A total of 147 people have already been found in that cemetery since the first exhumation campaign in 2023, the Memory Institute reported in a statement.
The new remains identified belong to Jacinto Polo Rios , a former militia member of the communist battalion 'Malatesta'. Polo Rios, an NTCmilitia, was killed on 4 December 1936 on the Otxandio frontat the age of 20.

As explained by the Gogora Institute, the UPV-EHU Biomics Laboratory has carried out the identification process du, comparing the genetic sample provided by the family with the bone remains sample.
The ones identified so far are: Muskiz (Bizkaia) Adolfo Cengotitabengoa Izurza; Ortuella (Bizkaia) Jaime Iñiguez Nieva; Linares (Jaen) and Aretxabaleta (Gipuzkoa)
According to the Gogora Institute, Centoitabengoa, Iñiguez and Hierro were militia members of the 'Perezagua' battalion attached to the Communist Party of the Basque Country and were killed on the same day, 7 April 1937, on the front of Barazar.
Enrique Contreras, a combatant of the 'Sarasketa' battalion attached to the PNV, was killed a day earlier, on April 6, in Dima, near Barazar.
