Navarra strengthens the social area in the preliminary draft budget, raising it to 6,741 million euros

The2026 preliminary draft budget approved this Friday bytheNavarre Government reflects a "determined and determined commitment to social spending", which accounts for 54.5% of the total resources planned, with an amount of EUR 6.741.5 billion, 4.8% more than this year's.
The Minister of Economy and FinanceofNavarra , José Luis Arasti, has reported this at a press conference, which he has described as a "historic milestone"since the Foral Government has never exceeded the threshold of 6 billion euros in this regard. The Navarre Government has approved at an extraordinary session the preliminary draft, which provides for a non-financial expenditure figure of 6,318.6 million euros.
The preliminary draft responds to thegovernment agreement between PSN, Geroa Bai and the Contigo-Zurekin group , but they will need thesupport of EH Bildu to approve the final project, which is already under negotiation in all departments, Arasti has reported.
After analysing the "enormous work" carried out by his department's technical team, he has warned that in the process of approving the final accounts the negotiations and priorities are of vital importance,sinceeach area "must carry the reality of its scope" so that the accounts can respond to their demands.
"We have prepared a preliminary draft with the aim of responding to the main demands of the citizens , especially in the social sphere, "the counsellor stressed. In this regard, Arasti recalled that" the fact that social issues reach 54.5% ofthetotal budget envisaged demonstrates this permanent and strengthened commitment in the areas of health, education, social rights and housing. "
In addition, the counsellor has highlighted an "important" issue, such as the Government of Navarre's commitment to the industrial fabric ofthe Foral Community . In this context, the preliminary draft "includes an economic injection aimed at public sector entities related to industrial attraction and promotion, industrial land or housing".
From now on, the preliminary draft will enter the consultation phasebefore it becomes a final bill to be dealt with in the Navarre Parliament.
EH Bildu has stressed that this is an important step
Thespokeswoman for EH Bildu in the Navarre Parliament, Laura Aznal , has stressed that the adoption of the preliminary draft is "good news"because it represents" an important step towards achieving the Budgets for Navarre ". Aznar has highlighted their contributions in areas that are"strategic"for Navarre society, such as housing, care, language policies, education, ecological transition and social rights.
