Bizkaia has presented a budget of EUR 1716 million for 2026 and will spend half of it on social spending

According to the draft budget presented this Friday by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the entity will haveEUR 1,716.2 millionavailable in 2026, which is 3.9% more than this year, of which 44.7% is planned for the Social Action area.

The General Member has explained that the overall budget for Bizkaia is EUR 11,320.3 million, of which EUR 1,716.2 million will be left for the departments of the Provincial Council after deducting contributions to the Basque Government, the State, the General Meetings, municipal funding, staff expenditure, public debt, etc.
Almost half of this, 767.2 million, will go to the Social ActionArea ; in the words of Etxanobe, "to continue improving care". To calculate the total social expenditure to be incurred by the Provincial Council, account must also be taken of the 87.6 million fromtheDepartment of Employment, Social Cohesion and Equality .

The Department of Public Administration and Institutional Relationswill receive 89.5 million; theDepartment of Economic Promotion 81.4 million; the Department of Natural Environment and Agriculture 79 million; the Department of Euskera, Culture and Sport 70.4 million; and the Department of Finance and Finance 69.2 million.
The Bureau of the General Meetings approved the draft on Friday. Members of the various areas will present the accounts of each department from 6 November and expect the plenary to approve the budgets at the end of December.
