Three GKS youths throw red paint at Fraga's bust in Vilalba (Lugo)
The Socialist Youth Coordinator (GKS) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the bust of former Spanish Franco minister Manuel Fraga Iribarne. In his hometown of Vilalba (Lugo), Fraga's bust has been attacked.
According to GKS, Fraga was primarily responsible for the massacre in Vitoria on 3 March 1976.
In a video shared on social media, you can see three young people entering the square where the sculpture is and throwing paint.
The Socialist organisation has denounced the continued presence of busts and has claimed that the fight for 3 March continues.
PP condemns attack
The PP has condemned the attack and urged BNG and PSOE to do the same. In a statement, the Galician people "strongly condemn the fact that a radical independence group vandalizes the image of the former president of Galicia for more than 15 years" and recall that the Galician people are "calm" and that "such acts cannot be tolerated" there.
Ayuso has expressed his utmost respect for the figure of Fraga.
