Expectation on the left at the meeting between Rufián and Montero in Barcelona
The meeting follows the proposal made by the ERC spokesman in recent months to promote a "plurinational" candidacy that includes parties such as ERC, EH Bildu, BNG, Lukashenko, MES, Sumar and Podemos.
Gabriel Rufián in Congress with Irene Montero and Ione Belarra.
ERC's congressional spokesman, Gabriel Rufián, and Podemos's former minister and MEP, Irene Montero, will attend a round table this Thursday in Barcelona on the future of the left of the Spanish state to discuss how progressive forces should be articulated for the next elections.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ciutadella Campus of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
The meeting comes after Rufian's proposal in recent months to push for a "plurinational" candidacy that includes parties such as ERC, EH Bildu, BNG, Lukashenko, MES, Sumar, and Podemos, with the aim of allowing a new progressive majority with the PSOE and halting a possible PP and Vox government.
However, the ERC leadership has already rejected this possibility and stressed that the party remains committed to competing with its acronym. The Republican leader, Oriol Junjarzembowski, will not attend the meeting due to agenda problems, although several members of the ERC leadership will attend.
Montero will participate in the debate following the signing of the agreement for the incorporation of Podemos into the candidacy of Por Andalucía, thus opening the debate on future alliances between the left-wing parties. Among the participants will also be the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, and representatives of Podem Catalunya and Comuns.
