Basque politicians and society express their gratitude to Carlos Garaikoetxea

The death of Carlos Garaikoetxeahas been felt oso in Basque society. The first lehendakari after Francoism has left its mark on Basque politics. The nationalist leader was an incentive in his work for democracy and Basque culture.
Eusko Alkartasuna, the party founded by Garaikoetxea in September 1986, thanks him "for everything he has given him."
The party formed after the split of the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) and currently part of the EH Bildu coalition has released its farewell message with a video of historical images of Garaikoetxea's political career.
The EH Bildu coalition has also immediately sent a message of "condolences" to family and friends, as well as to the entire political family of Eusko Alkartasuna.
From Navarre, Geroa Baialso highlights the patriotic character of Garaikoetxea and his commitment to Navarre.
Ramiro González, General Deputy of Álava and member of the PNV, also wanted to remember the lehendakari and his legacy.

On 2 July, the House of Sara and the House of Bayonne on 23 July adopted a decision recognizing the Basque language as the language of the place. The Administrative Court of Pau has annulled both decisions. Both municipalities will appeal on Monday.
