A man has been arrested for his alleged connection to the assault on former mayor of Pamplona Enrique Maya
On June 9, the former mayor of Pamplona was insulted and beaten in the chest on Estafeta Street without causing a physical link. Maya reported the incident and the alleged perpetrator has now been arrested after checking the security cameras.
The Pamplona Municipal Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his alleged connection to the assault on the former mayor of Pamplona/Iruña Enrique Maya (UPN) , who will be taken into custody within the next few hours, police sources have confirmed.
The attack took place on the afternoon of 9 June at Estafeta Street in Pamplona/Iruña, where ,according to the complaint, Maya was insulted and beaten in the chest by a passerby. The former mayor was not physically injured and filed a complaint about the incident.
Now, after a week, the suspect has been identified and arrested after checking the security cameras in the area.

The incident has led to a wave of condemnation throughout the political and institutional sphere of Navarre.
Representatives of all the political and institutional parties in Navarre have posted messages of condemnation and solidarity on social networks, including the mayor of Pamplona, Joseba Asiron (EH Bildu), and the president of the government of Navarre, María Chivite, as well as members of UPN, PSN, Geroa Bai, PPN and Contigo-Zurekin.
