The Spanish Government has rejected the request for the resignation of the head of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, because there are people, suchas former Minister José Luis Abalos, who have failedhim and who, they recall, took action against them at the time.
On Monday, PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo again called for Sanchez's resignation after the Supreme Court sentenced Abalos to 24 years in prison.
Moncloa sources consider such a request to be "disproportionate"and recall that action was taken against the convicted person, such as the request for a seat and expulsion from the PSOE, and that new anti-corruption initiatives were promoted.
However, although sources are convinced that Sanchez should not resign on this matter, Moncloa believes that everything thathas happened with the kissing case is "extremely serious" and therefore condemned "unreservedly" his behaviour against the principles governing the public service once the sentence is known.
In view of the impact that the ruling against Abalos may have on the public in prosecuting the government's work, the aforementioned sources have stressed that this is an old case, that the facts were known and that only the court decision was missing.

The PNV awaits explanations from Sanchez
The PNV spokeswoman at the Congress of Deputies, Maribel Cowboy, explained on EITB's En Jake program that her group will wait for the government president's explanations in Congress on Wednesday.
Likewise, after stating that Sanchez would call early elections if he did not get the support to approve the budgets, Cowboy recalled that the PNV raised this possibility becauseit has an obligation to submit public accounts.
"We call for the budget to be presented, for negotiations with the groups and for a vote, and if it does not have a sufficient majority to approve those budgets, we insist on the need to dissolve the chambers and call elections, because we believe thatthis legislature, without budgets, would be the last proof that it is exhausted, "he said.
