The President contacted Puigdemont and claimed that it was time for his return
President Imanol Pradales considers the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union to be excellent news and should definitely open the door for President Puigdemont to return home. Pradales has also contacted Carles Puigdemont after hearing the judgment, EITB has learned.
In a message posted on social networks in Catalan, Basque and Spanish, Pradales has pointed out that this is an essential step towards political normalization and coexistencein Catalonia.
"The judgment of the Court of Justice of theEuropean Union is excellent news for Catalonia. It should definitely open the door for President Puigdemont to return home. It is a necessary step towards political normalization and coexistence in Catalonia. We now hope that the Spanish justice system will take the final step as soon as possible. Catalonia and the whole state need it, "he said.
Reaction of the PNV
The PNV, for its part, has called on the Spanish courts to "move" and implement the Amnesty Act, sponsored by the Court of Justice of the European Union (TJUE), to promote "political normalization in Catalonia".
Aitor Esteban, president of the PNV, said on social media that "political conflicts must be resolved in the field of politics "and that" the judicialization of the procés was a mistake. "
"The Court of Justice of the European Union today endorsed the Amnesty Act that we passed in Congress. Now the Spanish courts must apply it once and for all and help to promote coexistence and political normalization in Catalonia," he said.
Response from EH Bildu
For her part, EH Bildu's spokeswoman to the Congress of Deputies, Mertxe Aizpurua , said on Thursday that the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (TJUE) on the amnesty law "protects" the rule and that now is "the time to implement it" and "to pave the way for political solutions once and for all."
"Europe has supported the Amnesty Act and has once again disproved those from the Spanish judiciary who opposed a law that was democratically passed by the majority of Congress , "Aizpurua said in a message posted on social network X.
This confirms what we have been advocating for a long time: political conflicts are not resolved in the courts and through repression, but through dialogue, negotiation and democracy. Amnesty must now be applied to all the repressive allies of the Catalan countries and, once and for all, open the way to political solutions.
