Aitor Landa has been appointed director of the Ertzaintza to replace Victoria Landa, while AlfonsoGaraikoetxeahas been appointed head of the Ertzaintza after the retirement of Josu Bujanda, as reported on Tuesday by the Basque Government's Security Adviser, Bingen Zupiria.
Zupiria announced these appointments at the press conference following the Governing Council of the Basque Government.
The counselor has explained that Landa is a senior technician in agriculture and has 36 years of experience in civil protection, especially fire and other emergencies.
On the other hand, Garaikoetxea has the rank of Mayor of the Ertzaintza, is part of thethird promotion, has been in the Ertzaintza for 41 years and, after several responsibilities there, has been in charge of the Division of Citizen Protection for the last seven years.
