Juan Karlos Izagirre will not run for mayor of Donostia by EH Bildu
Izagirre said he will return to medical work and continue to work as a grassroots militant.
EH Bildu's spokesman at Donostia City Council, Juan Karlos Izagirre, has announced that he will not run for mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián in the municipal elections scheduled for May 2027.
"I will not be a candidate, I will gladly return to medical work," he said in an interview published by thenewspaper Gara , adding that "it has always been clear to him that his contribution from public institutions must be limited in time" and that he will return to grassroots militancy.
Izagirre was born on June 1, 1963 in San Sebastian and between 2011 and 2015 was mayor of the city, replacing the socialist Odón Elorza.
