The Spanish Government decreed a tax cut in March on the occasion of the war in Iran, which expires on Monday, although the tax measures on fuels and the Value Tax on Electricity Production will be in effect until June 30.

In terms of underlying inflation (excluding energy and fresh food), it rose by a tenth in May to 2.9%.

The reduced rates of fuel (petrol, diesel and biofuels, and partial return of professional diesel) and hydrocarbon tax will remain in force until 30 June, as inflation for these products remains above the 15% threshold set by the government in April.

It is the fuels that continue to exert the greatest upward pressure, a sign that the shock caused by the war in Iran continues. However, this effect has been somewhat mitigated by the fall in the price of electricity and the fiscal measures adopted by the Spanish Government.

According to various technical reports so far, the blackout was due to the inability to control tension incidents and the combination of many factors. 

According to jeltzales, these measures "will help make the final price of electricity and fuel more affordable for families and self-employed people." The abertzale coalition welcomes the fact that it has received three proposals sent to Sanchez, but criticizes that the measures will increase the profits of large energy and oil companies.

Pending this meeting, the Decree-Law on the Table of the Council of Ministers contains a package of fiscal measures which, among other things, would result in a reduction of VAT on fuel, electricity and gas to 10%. 

The new Royal Decree, promoted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, provides that electrodependents and vulnerable persons may not be suspended from electricity even if they do not pay, and suspension of contracts shall not generally be punishable.  Penalties are also provided for companies for violations of the rules.

Darnitsia and Dniprovski are residential buildings in the suburbs. This is Russia's first attack on energy facilities since it declared a temporary ceasefire last Thursday during the energy bombings.

Among the sectors that have pushed prices up in the last month are clothing and footwear, due to rising prices at the beginning of the season; food and alcoholic beverages, due to the rise in fruit, meat, milk, cheese, eggs and oils and fats; and housing, due to the increase in electricity and, to a lesser extent, gas.

The rise in prices is mainly due to the rise in electricity and transport prices. Underlying inflation has risen by a tenth (excluding energy and fresh food) to 2.5%.

In the Spanish State, annual inflation has increased by three tenths, to 3%.

Over the past two weeks, a number of incidents have been detected in the grid, including "sudden changes in voltage," which could lead to "disconnection of electricity demand or supply,"  and destabilization of the entire grid. 

The European Network of Electricity Transport Network Managers (Entso-E) has submitted a report listing the events of 28 April, stating that what happened on that day "is completely new in Europe" and does not believe that it was produced by renewable energy production.

The Basque Government requested an additional capacity of 6,000 megawatts, which would have meant the Basque Country moving from the current 12,000 MW to 18,000 MW.

The Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability has called for an additional 6,000 MW in its network to meet its industrial and decarbonization objectives.

Jáuregui will meet with the Secretary of State for Energy, Joan Groizard, to discuss investment in electricity networks as part of the proposal to plan the electricity transport network for the period 2025-2030 and its impact on the Basque Country.
